Ohio is one of the worst states in the nation when it comes to hunger in the summer. Of those kids who rely on school lunches, only 10% of them have access summer feeding programs. That means of the almost 600,000 kids who were food insecure in 2018, over 500,000 of them potentially went without lunches last summer.
